At Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana (LCCG), we are constantly inspired by the courage and resilience of children fighting cancer. Gabriel’s story is a testament to the power of hope and joy in the face of adversity.

Gabriel, now 15, grew up in a happy family in Battor, Volta Region, Ghana. However, his life took a dramatic turn at 11 when he began experiencing persistent stomach pains and an enlarged stomach. Despite initial attempts at herbal medicine, Gabriel was eventually diagnosed with Leukemia at 12.

The diagnosis was met with uncertainty and fear, but Gabriel’s mother, Nancy, remained firm in her decision to support her child through chemotherapy treatment. Throughout the difficult treatment regime, Nancy was resolute, following the medical team’s advice religiously, even when faced with pressure from friends and relatives.

After three years of treatment, Gabriel is now back in school, reunited with his friends, and has discovered a passion for painting, which he developed during art therapy classes at Korle Bu. His dream is to become a renowned artist, expressing himself freely through colors. “I am happy when I paint,” he says with a smile.

Gabriel’s story inspires us at LCCG to continue being a beacon of hope for children fighting cancer. With the support of partners like World Child Cancer, organizations, and individuals like you, we dream of a day where no child suffers needlessly due to cancer. Your support brings happiness and hope to children like Gabriel.

Join us in our mission to fight childhood cancer and bring joy to those who need it most. Together, we can make a difference.
