Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana is thrilled to announce a significant upgrade to our medical capabilities, made possible by a generous donation from Newmont Ghana, a leading gold producing company in Ghana. This vital contribution includes high-grade patient monitors, ventilators, and essential blood management devices critical equipment in the treatment journey for patients in the Pediatric Oncology Unit and the Intensive Care Unit at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
During the presentation, Mr. Danquah Addo-Yobo, Country Director of Newmont Mining, emphasized that while the donation’s financial value stands at a substantial GH₵ 2 million, its true worth lies in the lives that will be saved.
Mr. Addo-Yobo specifically commended the persistence of Akua Sarpong, Executive Director of LCCG. He noted that her tireless advocacy highlighted the Pediatric Oncology Unit’s dire need for patient monitors, directly leading to this intervention. These new devices will play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes and strengthening our capacity to care for Ghana’s most vulnerable children. (Watch video of presentation here)
