A single moment of wonder lit up the ward bringing smiles, strength, and a reminder that every child’s courage is a superpower.
The Child Health Department of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on 14th November, 2025 came alive when Superman walked through its doors. A hero once seen only on television became real for the children, parents, and clinicians who met him that day. Laughter filled the halls, clinicians danced, parents smiled, and for a few magical moments, everyone, young and old felt the joy of childhood again.
Leonardo Muylaert, globally known as the Brazilian Superman, a 7-foot-tall lawyer and humanitarian who travels the world spreading kindness chose Ghana as part of his mission to bring joy to vulnerable communities. His presence brought comfort, renewed strength, and healing energy to the ward.
Dressed in his iconic Superman costume, he moved gently from bed to bed, kneeling beside each child, holding their hands, offering warm hugs, and whispering reminders that their courage is their greatest superpower. His infectious smiles and laughter were a form of therapy lifting spirits, easing fears, and giving families a precious moment of hope.

Parents eagerly filmed and photographed the encounter, grateful to witness their children smiling, active, and happy, some for the first time in weeks or months.
To preserve the moment, LCCG framed photos of every child with the Brazilian Superman. Today, those frames sit proudly beside their beds, reminding them of a day when happiness truly became medicine.
LCCG extends deep gratitude to Leonardo Muylaert for filling the ward with wonder, hope, and joy and for reminding our brave little heroes of the incredible strength they carry every single day.
