Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana (LCCG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to amongst many others: making cancer control a national health priority, facilitating and increasing access to optimal medical care/treatment for children with cancer, providing support to affected families, creating awareness among the general public, promoting capacity building in childhood cancer for health workers and advocating for accessible high quality diagnostic and treatment facilities in Ghana

Our vision is that every child with cancer, no matter where they live in Ghana, will get the treatment that they need to achieve a cure, and that their families will get the support (both financial and emotional) that they need for timely diagnosis and treatment.

ACSI (CISI/ICAEW) Chartered Corporate Financier, MSc. ISIB (International Securities & Investment Banking – ICMA Centre), BSc. (Hons) Economics, Dip (Computer Science). David Amarteifio ACSI, is an entrepreneur, Investment banking professional and a Chartered Corporate Financier (ACSI Qualified) with over 15yrs experience in the Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets and Macro-Economics Industry, with a demonstrated track record of successful advisory on several multi-million currency ($,£,€) corporate, Leveraged and structured finance, capital raising & securities underwriting, capital markets (debt & equity), financial risk & derivatives solutions, strategy, transaction structuring & execution deals across the UK, mainland Europe & Emerging markets. He is also the CEO & Partner at 3A Capital Advisory partners (an independent Leverage Finance advisory firm). David also serves as the Finance & Treasury Director and Church council executive member of Hendon Methodist Church, UK. He currently works as a consultant in Leveraged Debt Capital Markets at Deutsche Bank, UK. David also doubles a freelance writer (his treatise is on global macro-economics, capital markets & finance) and is an extremely keen enthusiast and advocate for Childhood health, care and well-being.

Mr Keli Gadzekpo

Mr Keli Gadzekpo is an entrepreneur and businessperson who founded Databank Brokerage Ltd., Databank Group and Databank Asset Management Services Ltd. and who has been the head of 8 different companies. He holds the position of Chairman at Databank Group, Chairman for Databank Epack Investment Fund Ltd. (a subsidiary of Databank Group), Chairman at Databank Foundation, Group Chief Executive Officer & Director at Enterprise Group Ltd. and Chairman at Electricity Co. of Ghana. Keli Gadzekpo is also Member of Mo Ibrahim Foundation and on the board of 13 other companies. Mr. Gadzekpo previously occupied the position of Chairman for Womens World Banking Ghana SVGS & Loans Co. Ltd., Chief Executive Officer at Databank Asset Management Services Ltd. and Chief Executive Officer at Databank Brokerage Ltd. He received an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and a graduate degree from Harvard University.

Professor Lorna Awo Renner

Professor Lorna Awo Renner MB. CHB, Dip Heath Econs (Curtin University), MPH (Liverpool), FRCPCH (UK), FGCPS, is a lecturer in the Department of Child Health, University of Ghana School of Medicine and Dentistry. She is the lead clinician in charge of the Paediatric Oncology Unit (POU) at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra. She is a member of the Ghana National Non-Communicable Diseases Steering Committee and chairperson for the Cancer control subcommittee. She is the immediate past Africa Continental President for the International Society for Paediatric Oncology. Prof. Renner is the Local Project Lead for the World Child Cancer Twinning Programme between the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh and the POU at Korle Bu Hospital. She is a founding member of the Ghana Parents’ Association for Childhood Cancer. She is a member of the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer. She is the chairperson for the faculty of Paediatrics/Child Health of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is an ardent advocate for improving access to quality care for children affected by cancer, particularly in Ghana. She has also played a leading role in establishing Paediatric HIV comprehensive services in Ghana and is on the National HIV Technical Working Group.

Mrs Akua Sarpong

Ms. Akua Sarpong holds an MBA from the University of Leicester, UK and a first degree in Social Sciences from the KNUST. She also holds certificates in Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development (CELED) and NGO Management and Funding Strategies from the University of Ghana Business School. A project management specialist, she’s a member of the reputable Project Management Professionals (PMP). Ms. Sarpong had previously managed various private sector development programs under the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), during which time was in charge of projects such as the annual USD3million “Danida Business to Business Programme”, which was committed to supporting private sector companies, by promoting long term sustainable business partnerships between Danish and Ghanaian companies. She also worked under the ‘Support to Private Sector Development Programme which sought to support bilateral assistance and cooperation between the Ghana and the Danish Government through Skill Development Fund, Rural Finance Programme and the Government of Ghana’s Private Sector Development Strategy II. She worked as an investment climate specialist under the Private Sector Development Secretariat of the Ministry of Trade and Investment. She was responsible for driving the implementation of key interventions that deal seek to make finance work for small enterprises through the creation of innovative funds that address access and cost needs for small businesses. She currently operates a food based company called All Natural Products Ghana. Ms Sarpong is a mother of two children, a Rotarian and an entrepreneur.

Mrs Irene Aborchie-Nyahe

LAWYER IRENE ABORCHIE-NYAHE is the Director of the Legal Assistance Network- Ghana, a human rights Organisation which she founded in the year 2010 and has since the inception of the Organization assisted many people with their legal problems especially women, children and vulnerable men who found it very difficult to access justice due to economic/ financial problems. She is also an Executive member of FIDA- GHANA and a member of FIDA INTERNATIONAL. FIDA stands for International Federation of Women Lawyers. It is an international Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) which enhances the status of women and children by providing Legal aid, among others. She is also a Consultant on Consumer Protection issues with the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Ghana. She holds degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Law from the University of Ghana, Legon. She later enrolled at the Ghana School of Law where she obtained her professional training in Law and was subsequently called to the Bar as a Professional Lawyer in the year 2010. She joined the Law Reform Commission of Ghana the same year but and later moved into private legal practice. She is also the CEO of Global Facilitations Solutions (GFS), a Consulate and Travel & Tours Facilitation company.

Mr Gustav Siale

Mr. Gustav Siale holds a Master’s degree in Population Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, Legon as well as a Diploma (Distinction) in Insurance from the West African Insurance Institute. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of United Kingdom. Gustav is also a member of the Ghana Bar Association. He joined Ghana Reinsurance Company in January 1994 to start the Research and Statistics Department. He served in several capacities: Head of Research, General Manager (Technical), Deputy Managing Director and Secretary to the Board of Directors. He became the Managing Director of Ghana Reinsurance Company in January, 2012 and retired in June, 2016. Before joining Ghana Reinsurance Company, Mr. Siale had worked with the State Insurance Corporation, now SIC Insurance Company. He attended several seminars and conferences on insurance in Africa, Europe and Asia. Gustav was an Executive Council member of The Insurance Institute of Ghana and the 2nd Vice President of Ghana Insurers Association. He served as the Chairman of the Academic Board and a Council Member of the Ghana Insurance College. Mr Siale is a Member of the Advisory Board of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana, Legon. He loves teaching. He was a visiting Lecturer in Principles and Practice of Reinsurance at the West Africa Insurance Institute (WAII) in the Gambia, and currently a Part-time Lecturer in Liability Insurance at University of Ghana Business School. Mr. Siale also served as a Resource Person in Business Interruption, Liability and Engineering Insurances at the Ghana Insurance College. He was a Director of Metropolitan Insurance Company Limited, Trust Logistics Limited and Donewell Life Insurance Company Limited. Currently Gustav is the immediate President of Council of the Korle-Bu Community Chapel and the former Acting Chairman of Ghana Prisons Ministry, a non-for-profit organization which seeks the spiritual and physical wellbeing of inmates. Mr Siale has over thirty-five year experience in insurance and reinsurance. He is happily married to a lovely lady by name Esther and the marriage is blessed with three Children.

Dr Emmanuel A. Odame

Emmanuel’s experience includes working in the health policy arena for over a decade. He is currently the Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of the Ministry of Health, Ghana. Where among other things he sees to the general policy direction of the health sector, leads in health sector planning and budgeting in all areas including capital investments, medical devices etc and ensures the sector is monitored in real time and decisions taken among other functions. He is also in charge of resource mobilsation for the health sector of Ghana. He was the lead negotiator for the Ghanaian health sector during the negotiations of the Sustainable Development Meetings at the UN in New York. He has done consultancies for international organisations including the International Labour Organisations and Oxfam International. He is also a board member of a private health insurance company Phoenix Health Insurance, previous Board Member of National Population Council and a member of the National Health Insurance Oversight Committee of Ghana. He was the previous chair of the Early Carrier Network of the Health Technology Assessment International (HTAI). He has publications ranging from Health Policy, Health Technology Assessment among others to his credit. He has been a panelist and presenter at many international meetings on health policy spanning from Health Technology Assessment International, International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation, World Health Assembly, World Health Organisation Africa Regional Committee meeting, Global Conference on Primary Health Care, Kazakhstan 2018 among others. Emmanuel holds a degree in Medicine and a Masters in health policy all from the University of Ghana. He also has a specialist qualification in health policy from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has additional qualification in negotiation and leadership from the Harvard Law School.
