Hiking for Children with Cancer; David’s Challenge

Hey Friends,
My name is David Amarteifio,

I am the board chairman of Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana (LCCG). Through my work and frequent visits to Ghana, I have seen the heartbreak families face when a child is diagnosed with cancer, not just the fear, but the struggle to access quality care.
At the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, the existing 24-bed childhood cancer ward serves over 60 children every single day. Space is limited, resources are stretched, and many children who need urgent care are left waiting. In a country where treatment is often out of pocket and access to quality facilities is extremely limited, this reality is devastating for families.

This is why I am walking 84km through two 42km hiking challenges , Trek 26 on 9th May 2026 and the Mighty Cotswolds Challenge on 12th September 2026 to raise awareness and funds to support the ongoing construction of a new 40-bed childhood cancer unit by LCCG at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

This building will ease overcrowding, improve access to treatment, and give more children a real chance at survival.

Every step I take is for a child who deserves dignity, care, and hope and for parents who should not have to fight the system while fighting for their child’s life.

Your donation will help build a facility that changes lives.

Thank you for walking this journey with me.
